Where is the phone?

By Aurelia | June 14, 2006

OMG - how many of you mothers of teens out there have to scrounge around for the phone when it rings only to find it burried under your teens covers, laying on the bathroom sink or sitting on the banister someplace with the teen no where to be found. What’s even worse than that is when someone calls you, leaves a message with your teen and they conveniently forget about it! And let’s not forget how many times we pick up the phone to place an important call ONLY to hear your teen giggling and talking away. Of course they will be off in 2 minutes, or is that 2 hours :)

What’s a mother to do?

Do your teens have a separate phone line? I have yet to cross that line because the last thing I need is another phone bill, but what I do is encourage all of my friends to try to reach me on my cell if they actually want to talk to me.

I feel your pain Aurelia - it’s funny how my teens think the phone is theirs. If the phone rings - no one usually wants to answer - I have to get up and look for the phone - around the house - sometimes, the couch eats it - sometimes, its in the bathroom, sometimes under the kids covers ….. URG!

My teens have cell phones so they have their own line but I tell them to use it for emergencies only - if they need to call friends - they use the land line- but sometimes their friends call them on their cell phone and that is when we have problems. It’s a pain (the additional fees of a cell phone) but I feel safer knowing I can call them or they can call me when we need to be in touch with each other.
