Are you looking for ways to spend quality time with your teenagers? Here are a few things you can do together with your teens to build a stronger relationship.
Exercise Together - Last week I started taking Salsa Cardio classes with my 15 year old daughter. We are having so much FUN. It is only once a week but we both look forward to it. It is a way for us both to release STRESS. After releasing that energy, we feel calmer around each other - lol. We have also been walking as a family after dinner - me, hubby, 15 year old daughter, 13 year old son and 8 year old son. It is a great way to exercise and keep everyone talking about what’s going on in our lives.
Cook Together - my kids love to eat - my daughter wants to be a famous chef one day. I have been spending some time with my teens teaching them basic recipes in our kitchen. I love seeing the smiles when we compliment them for the yummy food they concucted.
Watch TV or Movies together - this is one of my favorites. We love watching movies whether it be at home or at the theater. Recently we went to see Nacho Libre in the theater and had so much fun laughing. As a family, we enjoy watching Myth Busters, Dr. 90210, 10 Years younger and the Food Network. We always end up sharing our thoughts on the movie or program - it is a great conversation starter.
Make a CRAFT together - My teen daughter and I love to craft. We enjoy scrapbooking and painting pots. When we have the time we craft together. It is a great way to get the creative juices flowing.
PLAY together - my husband likes to wrestle with the kids. They also play basketball and ride their bikes together. Once in a while, we would also play charades and board games. This is a lot of FUN for us - especially the charades. We end up giggling.
My husband and I always try to make it a point to do something FUN with the kids. It’s our QUALITY time together. I beleive it is something that they will never forget. As I was growing up as a teen, I do not remember doing any FUN stuff with my mom. She was always busy working - this is something I do not wish to happen to my kids and I. I want them to have lots of fun memories with mom.
