Do your kids procrastinate?
Wednesday, August 30th, 2006->
Are my kids the only ones who procrastinate? I hope not … well, my teens have summer homework - meaning they need to have these homework done before school starts which is next week. Do they have it done? NOPE! I have been reminding them all through out the summer to work on their summer homework - do they listen - I don’t know! Honestly … I know it goes in one ear and goes out the other … now, with only 6 days left before school starts … I see them panicking! It stresses me out but I try to stay cool - it is their homework, they will be the ones who will face the consequences but … I can’t help but worry.
My son got finally got a hair cut …
Tuesday, August 22nd, 2006A few weeks ago, I posted about my kids’ hair …
I am happy to say that my son - just turned 14 finally got a hair cut. I am soooo happy - he looks so much cuter … I will have to post a photo up here to justify my brag.
This leads me to thinking … I nagged my son a few times to get his hair cut and continuously he said “No mom - it’s my hair!”. Then, all of a sudden after his 14th birthday, he just asked hid dad to take him to get his haircut …. YAY! I was surprised - and very pleased when I saw his new look. Perhaps … I shouldn’t have nagged - at least that would have lessened the aggravasion and anxiety.
Taking the Stress Out of Back-to-School
Saturday, August 19th, 2006The back-to-school blues can affect everyone even teen students. Perhaps your teen is worried about making friends, or is anxious about making the grade. Back-to-school worries can affect both straight A students and those who are barely making it through.
First of all, it is important to determine whether your teen is suffering from school-related stress. Is he or she complaining of stomach aches or headaches? Does he or she have a negative outlook about the start of school? Is he or she grumbling about heading back to class? Is your child a loner? Is he or she reluctant to purchase school supplies? If you answered “yes” to any of the preceding questions, your teen could be exhibiting signs of stress related to returning to school.
Self Confidence in Parenting
Friday, August 11th, 2006There’s a reason why so many people say it’s the hardest job you’ll ever have–raising a child. It’s challenging, exciting, nerve-wracking, and one of the most amazing things you’ll ever experience. Raising a child will put you through every emotion possible, including self-doubt. Along with the joy of raising a child can come the fear that you’re going to do something wrong, create permanent psychological damage, or a whole list of other things that may not go quite right. But relax–keeping a few simple things in mind can help raise your confidence as a parent.
