In the kitchen with your teen

My 15 year old daughter loves to cook. This past Thanksgiving, my daughter helped me cook our Thanksgiving feast. I had a lot of fun with her. She helped by washing and drying the turkey, of course- she had the be the “Taste Tester” for the stuffing and gravy. She also helped prepare the desserts - apple nut ring and pecan tassies. She loves baking and was so serious when I asked her to get the ingredients ready. She did a great job taking the pecan tassies out of the muffin pan … that was a challenging task - I was very impressed with her patience - of course in between taking the pecan tassies out of the pans, she ate a few -

What are you thankful for?

I know as a mother of teens - sometimes I feel like it is all headaches and heartaches - but, it’s NOT . A lot of times, I am thankful - I may not say it often but …

  • I am thankful - that my teens do very well in school even if I do not bug them to do homework and work on school stuff.
  • I am thankful that my kids DO NOT smoke, drink alcohol and DO NOT do drugs.
  • I am thankful that they are healthy.
  • Do you struggle parenting your teens?

    Well - I do. Seriously … it is a struggle - some days are easier than others but, other days are a challenge. I have 2 teens - a 15 y.o. girl and a 14 y.o boy - they drive me nuts sometimes. I sought the help of my friend Aurelia Williams about this very issue and was so happy because she gave me lots of useful advise and solutions to my dilemma. Aurelia and I chatted about teens’ attitudes, grounding, and the importance of communication. There was a moment in our chat where I thought I was just gonna cry …
