Do your teens make New Year’s Resolutions?

By Mother | January 14, 2007

Usually we talk about our family’s New Year Resolutions early in the Year. However, sadly, this year we have not even discussed them. Do your teens make New Years’ Resolutions? Do you talk to them about it? I think it is a good idea to do so that way you can remind them to follow through.

I know my teen daughter asked me before the year ended what I wanted to achieve for 2007 - of course as always I said - I want to lose weight. She has been reminding me regularly to exercise … although it is annoying at times, I appreciate it - I like the reminders. She keeps me up on my toes - I really do not want to disappoint her.

This week, I am opening the topic to my teens … it’ll be a nice conversation starter over dinner. I suggest you do the same - ask your teens if they have a New Year’s resolution - not only will it allow you to communicate with your child, it will also teach you more about them - it is some bonding time for your family.
