By Aurelia | March 19, 2007

Since your teenager may be attending college soon there are some important questions that you should ask them well before their Senior year of high school. Did you konw that the best time to have this conversation is when your teenager is just starting high school, so that he/she can have years to form his answers.

Here are a few questions to ask your teen:

1 - Why do you want to go to college?
2 - What do you want to be? What job do you want to have?
3 - What majors are you considering?
4 - What high school grades will you need to get into college?
5 - What high school classes will you need to go to college?
6 - What extracurricular activities are you interested in?
7 - Have you considered the cost? Have you considered how WE are going to pay for it?

It is really important to take an active involve your teen in college preparation. While you should take a hands-on approach in the process, don’t do all the work for them. Let them fill out forms, contribute to the application fee’s and do some research on colleges.

College prepartion is such an exciting time but it can also be a scary one for our teens, be sure to connect with them often about their feelings.
